IRTA and the Catalan Federation of cooperatives signed a collaboration agreement
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food and Environment of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Josep Maria Pelegri, President of IRTA, and Josep Pere Colat, the president of the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC), signed a collaboration agreement between IRTA and the FCAC last Friday the 22 February, in the presence of the director of the Institute for Research and Technology (IRTA), Josep Maria Monfort, director of the TTSS of Agriculture, Mariano Morera, the CEO the FCAC, Jordi Vives, and the head of R + D + i of the FCAC, Simon Marius. Specifically, this collaboration agreement aims to promote innovation projects with the members of the Catalan Federation of agricultural cooperatives. The agreement has a duration of four years. In fact, in 2008 the two entities already signed an agreement with the same features and, given the success of this collaboration; it has chosen to keep adding synergies in this area. During signing the agreement, the counselor Pelegrí said that "innovation is undoubtedly the engine of progress and the key to promoting the great potential of our food industry and to add value and new opportunities for our agricultural entrepreneurs in the context of the global market and internationalization ". For his part, the president and the director of the FCAC value this initiative and the ability to strengthen linkages and collaboration with IRTA, an essential tool for agrifood research and innovation in Catalonia.
